Psychotherapy – Individuals, Couples & Families
Work with Jodi and bring the changes that you seek to your life and relationships.
COUNSELING (also known as psychotherapy) is a process of self-discovery undertaken by the therapist and client working together. It is designed to help you, your child, you and your partner, or your family better understand yourself and your relationships. Therapy is the Greek word for change. During this process you will be encouraged to reflect on and identify limiting beliefs, negative feelings and self defeating patterns of behaviors. Doing so may help you understand unconscious motivations which may be adversely impacting the quality of your life or relationships. Recognizing this often leads to changes that allow you to experience an improved quality of life.
Conflict in any relationship is unavoidable. According to Larry Alan Nadig, a clinical psychologist and marriage and family therapist, “There is no such thing as a relationship without conflict… Conflict is a part of life. It exists as a reality of any relationship and is not necessarily bad.” However, dealing with conflict in unhealthy or hurtful ways can be damaging.
Jodi is an expert on relationship counseling. She will guide you to make the necessary changes to take your relationship to a healthier and stronger place.
Therapy may bring about a greater degree of self understanding and enable you to make the changes in your life and relationships that enhance your life and create more joy.
Jodi strongly believes that given an empathetic, non judgement environment and a skilled therapist, the human being gravitates to emotional health and well being. If you lack belief in yourself, Jodi will hold her belief in you while working together. Her goal is that you eventually attain a strong belief in yourself and your potential.
The success of our work together depends upon the quality of the efforts on both our parts, and the realization that you are responsible for the lifestyle choices/changes that may result from therapy. Most counseling takes time to be effective. The number of sessions needed depends upon many factors and will be discussed with you.
Insurance and fees: Jodi has chosen not belong to a managed care provider network because they are restrictive and incompatible with most people’s therapeutic needs. However, she will provide you with a detailed receipt that you may use to file with your insurance company for reimbursement.
Check with your insurance company if you plan on filing Out-of-Network benefits: If you plan on filing a claim with your insurance company for psychotherapy with Jodi, please check with them before scheduling an appointment. While many insurance companies will reimburse you when you have out-of-network mental health benefits, some may not. It is best to understand your policy and your deductible before we meet.
“Be afraid of nothing. You have within you all the wisdom, all the power, all the strength, all the understanding.”
